Explosive device found in car at Mountain Rest

A bomb squad discovered an I-E-D with a charge in a car at Mountain Rest, and the Oconee Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 39-year old man.  Law enforcement records show Klayton Marshall Seavey arrested on the charge of violating the South Carolina Explosives Control Act – 1st offense.  Two addresses are listed for Seavey:  Easley and Elmira, Michigan.  Seavey was arrested early yesterday after an Oconee deputy responded to reports of people with flashlights walking around homes at Lake Becky.  The sheriff’s office called the Anderson Bomb Squad to the scene of a traffic stop at SC 28/the Highlands Highway at Rustic Trail.  According to the sheriff’s office, the bomb squad found and took possession of the improvised explosive device from inside a Jeep Cherokee with an out of state tag.  Two other occupants of the car were arrested on unrelated charges—a 27-year old Central woman and a 30-year old West Union man.
