Expedition hike originates in northern Oconee

A statewide expedition hike started this week at the Oconee Station State Historic Site, for state officials to showcase the natural beauty of South Carolina’s “Seven Summits”.  Senate leader Thomas Alexander and others urge everyone to take advantage of outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship.  From Oconee Station, they hiked to the 60-foot tiered Station Cove Falls, later to the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery.  There with a healthy fish population and access to fish, the staff is part of the state DNR Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
