Elderly Oconeean COVID death, state health report

The death of an elderly Oconeean June 3 was COVID-19, according to today’s report from South Carolina DHEC.  That death was one of 16 new virus deaths across the state.  According to DHEC, 8,616 South Carolinians have so far died and there are 1,160 probable death cases currently suspected.  CBS reports more people have died of COVID wordwide so far this year than during all of last year.  There were 156 new confirmed cases of COVID-19,  including four in Oconee County.  Of 9,903 test results received, the latest positivity dropped from yesterday’s 3% to today’s 2.1%.  Today’s numbers are data that reflect the count by the end of the day on Wednesday this week.
