Editorial — “The Apple Festival is Still Going Strong”

It’s Apple Festival week in Westminster! The 51st Annual South Carolina Apple Festival picks up steam tonight through this weekend with plenty of attractions and events for all ages. There will be lots of musical entertainment, arts, crafts, a parade, a rodeo, a classic car show, a 5k and fun run race, and of course, plenty of food! Critics like to say that the Apple Festival and other festival events in our area are “the same old thing every year”. But isn’t that what makes a festival such a great, longstanding tradition? People keep coming back year after year for something they enjoy. Something that makes them feel good. Lord knows we can all use some “good feelings” during these tough times that we live in.

It’s not just the food and craft vendors or the kiddie rides that make it special, but it’s the chance to see old friends again, and perhaps make some new friends along the way.

If your schedule will permit it, we strongly encourage you to make time to visit the Apple Festival this weekend. You can find a complete list of events and information on their website at scapplefestival dot com.

While you’re at it, go ahead and mark your calendars for the upcoming Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair and the Walhalla Oktoberfest, as well as events coming up in the City ofSeneca. And don’t let anyone tell you that there’s not anything to do in Oconee County!

That’s our viewpoint…what’s yours?
