Doug Stancil

Westminster-Richard Douglas Stancil, loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend, died November 17th, 2021, at Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Born to Gladys and Milton Stancil on August 18, 1939, Doug was a lifelong employee of Amerigas in Westminster. Always carrying a servant’s heart, he worked many years helping locals stay warm all winter and cool all summer. He was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Walhalla, SC, and was active in the Pathfinders Group.

 

Doug was a loving husband for sixty-three years to his surviving wife, Linda Duvall Stancil of the home, and proud father of surviving children, Richard Brian Stancil (Susan) of Sumter, Kimberly Stancil Burden (Barry), of Anderson, Bradley Douglas Stancil (Tonya) of Westminster, and Amy Marshall (Gary) of Anderson. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Blake Stancil (Melissa), of Lexington, Ashley Stancil of Sumter, Ellen Stancil, of Westminster, Mac Stancil of Westminster, and Thomas Marshall of Anderson. Most recently, he was blessed to be called Papa by two great-grandchildren, Quinn Stancil and Baylor Stancil, of Lexington; survived by a sister, Joan Stancil; and survived by an amazing mother-in-law, Lois Duvall, of Westminster.

 

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his two sisters, Doris Bryant and Connie Wilbanks; and a brother Kenneth Stancil.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 11am, Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at Sandifer Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Friday, November 19th, 2021.
