District Three residents speak out about Oconee’s future

What would happen if Duke Energy is ever denied renewal of its Oconee Nuclear Plant license? Concern about the over-population of land around Lake Keowee. A new library for Seneca. Housing and services to keep young people in the county. These were some of the issues citizens asked planners for Oconee County to consider in their 10-year plan now being prepared to guide the county’s development beginning in 2020. The drop-in at the Seneca Library Thursday, attended by 18 citizens, will be added to a series of surveys and other regional meetings to form the plan by late fall, in time for it to be considered by the Oconee County council in November. The next regional meeting will be at Keowee Elementary School on May 2 at 6 p.m.
