DEAN BRANYON

Lonnie Dean Branyon, age 69, of Westminster, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oconee County on July 3rd, 1956, he was the son of the late Glenn and Edna Treadaway Branyon. Lonnie worked for many years as a dedicated machinist with Greenfield Industries before retiring. He was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where he found strength in his faith and friendships.

Lonnie was known for his kind heart, steady spirit, and love for family and community. For many years, he served as a recreation baseball coach in Townville and Westminster, where he mentored young athletes and built lifelong friendships. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, which brought him peace and joy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carolyn Holbrooks Branyon; his children, Coleman Branyon of Westminster and Heather Branyon Head (Roger) of Westminster; his brother, Roger Branyon (Patricia) of Salem; and his step-sister, Christine Swoboda (Jody) of California. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Waylon Head, Michael Head, Saydee Head, and Braylon Branyon, as well as his beloved dog, Sir Winston Branyon. To many, he was affectionately known as “Pa,” especially to Ashton Sosby and Emma Kelley, who held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy McKinley.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, September 5th, 2025, at Cross Roads Baptist Church, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Friday, September 5th, 2025, prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
