Seneca, SC– Danny Carl Penton, 69, husband of Vanessa Grubbs Penton, of Seneca, South Carolina died peacefully at his home on June 12, 2024, surrounded by his family.


Born in Sylacauga,  Alabama, he was the son of the late Van and Martella Penton. Mr. Penton received his college degree from Jacksonville  State University in Jacksonville, AL, and worked most of his career in textiles management. He later worked with and retired from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.


During his career, Mr. Penton served on several committees and board of directors including Tri-County Technical College Textiles, Oconee Industrial Development, Prisma Health Oconee Medical Holdings, United Way of Oconee, and the Walhalla Civic Auditorium. His passion was fishing and he spent many hours on beautiful Oconee lakes patiently waiting to land the next big fish.


In addition to his wife of 47 years, Mr. Penton is survived by his daughter: Keri (Jared) Marcengill; son: Hunter (Katey); and grandchildren: Emma (Cole) Roper, Mattie Marcengill, Henry, Lucy, Walt, and Charlie Penton; sister: Glenda Hanna; brother: Van Penton, Jr. (Marlene); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Beverly Taylor; nephew: Philip Hanna; and niece: Janet Hanna.


The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Davenport Funeral Home in Walhalla, SC, and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, following the visitation in the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.  A private burial will take place at a later date.
