Curfew designed to clear the streets of unruly teenagers

At the request of the police chief, Westminster has taken a preliminary step to amend a city law and apply a curfew to teenagers. The city council gave first reading an ordinance amendment that Chief Rory Jones requested to help quell a group of teenagers who start fights, break windows, slash tires and otherwise interrupt the peace and quiet of a small town at night. Curfew hours for children 15 and under will be 9pm to 6 am and 17 and under from 11 pm to 6 am. Kids, accompanied by parents, on their way home from an approved event get an exemption. The curfew received the support of the mayor and city council, with Mayor Brian Ramey stating, “I have seen what these kids are doing.”
