Cottingham Campus Phase II

Shovels are being turned in a symbolic ground-break today for the Foothills Area YMCA expansion on the grounds of the Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.  Already millions of dollars have been raised, but more is needed to pull off Phase II at the Cottingham Campus, named for the couple who were leading donors in the original Y, which officially opened five years ago.  Richard and Nancy Cottingham were among a number of donors and supporters for a facility that embraces health of the mind, the spirit, and the body.  The existing Y building contains an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and phase two is being designed to add a second pool.  According to Christle Ross, the facility chief executive officer, the Y today counts memberships in excess of six thousand and sees as many as 800 to 1,000 people a day.
