Community garden information meeting

Westminster residents get a chance next week to learn about plans for the city’s first community garden. Dot’s Kitchen at 135 Lucky Street will host the 6 o’clock Monday night meeting. A development plan will be presented for the grant-funded garden. Claim plots in that garden will be free during the first year. The garden will be dug on city-donated land behind Anderson Park. The project is organized by the Oconee Cultivation Project, partnering with John Fritz of Bluestem Landscape and Westminster residents Jim and Mildred Spearman. Earlier this year the Oconee Cultivation Project secured a grant through the South Carolina Association for Community Economic Development. The intent is to provide fresh food to certain areas of the state.
