College Baseball Playoffs

Clemson’s Saturday night heartbreak carried into Sunday afternoon.  The Tigers, the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, were eliminated from their own regional Sunday against the Charlotte 49ers 3-2, a little more than 16 hours after a 14th inning 6-5 marathon loss to Tennessee.  Clemson end their first campaign under Erik Bakich 44-19.  South Carolina’s road to Omaha is all the way back on track after an outstanding run through their regional wrapped up Sunday night by torching Campbell 16-7 in the region final.  The No. 15 seeded Gamecocks (42-19) region championship is their 19th in program history, and the first since 2018, and this will mark their 14th trip to a Super Regional.  South Carolina will await the winner of the Gainesville regional in next weekend’s best-of-3 super regional series. If No. 2 Florida were to win the regional, the Gamecocks will travel to Gainesville. If Texas Tech topples the Gators, South Carolina will host a Super Regional at Founders Park for the first time since 2016.
