Clayton Earl Land

Seneca – Clayton Earl Land, 96, husband of Nellie Lee Breedlove Land, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Cromer and Lula Lee Sheriff Land. Clayton was retired from Clemson University and was the owner and operator of Gaines and Land Service Station. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Airforce, having served in WWII, a member of the Charles McGee Byrd American Legion Post 120 in Seneca, and was a member of Seneca Baptist Church.

Mr. Land is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Nellie; a son, Sam Land and wife Dianne of Peachtree City, GA; daughter, Kim Land Nims and husband John of Charlotte, NC; Clayton is one of twelve siblings, and survived by two brothers and two sisters; five grandchildren, Amy Land McLeod (Chesley), Adam Land (Lauren), Katherine Nims, Lydia Nims Mobley (Jeremy), Clay Nims; and five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Molly, Mason, Franklin, Anne Nicholas; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of beloved friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Seneca Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church. A private Inurnment will be held at a later date at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. Land’s memory to Seneca Baptist Church, 1080 S. Oak Street, Seneca, SC 29678.
