Charges pile up against pair arrested in two-state spree

Law enforcement authorities have added charges against two Greenville men arrested in a crime spree that was brought to an end when the Clemson police captured the suspects. The sheriff’s office in Stephens County, Georgia reports vehicle break-in charges have been added against Wallace Wardlaw, 22 years old, and Vonnie Earl Locklear, 30 years old. WNEG Toccoa quotes Sheriff Randy Shirley as saying communications between law enforcement and neighbors who saw unusual activity where they live helped lead to the arrests and the recovery of stolen property. Shirley’s investigators, along with Toccoa police officers, went to Clemson to execute a search warrant for the stolen car the suspects were driving. The sheriff believes the two men crossed the state line with the hope of pulling off an easy crime spree, but that was stopped when the Clemson police caught the two men in a stolen Chevy Malibu.
