Chamber director and Westminster get acquainted

The new leader of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, Joann Johnson, got acquainted last night with the leaders of the city of Westminster. Johnson is hoping Westminster will allocate $5 thousand worth of A-TAX funds to the operations of the chamber, which is now a voice for commerce in the county’s tri-cities of Seneca, Walhalla, and Westminster. The city council received Johnson’s request and Mayor Ramey questioned her about the possibility the countywide chamber will staff the former Westminster chamber office at the Community Depot. “We’re looking at that. I’m getting with the board to find out exactly what we are going to do, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can,” Johnson replied.
