A Sunday afternoon fire near West Union destroyed an empty barn. Assistant Chief Jess Neville of the West Union Volunteer Fire Department said the fire occurred near Cook Lane in the Poplar Springs Community. Neville said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Clemson University awarded 752 degrees today at the summer graduation ceremony. The students crossed the stage to get degrees and President James Barker’s congratulations. At the ceremony, 337 received bachelor’s degrees, 357 master’s degrees and 58 doctorates.
