Tree on a line takes out city’s power

Something seemingly as minor as a tree down on a power line created work for power crews and a great deal of annoyance last night for Walhalla customers of Duke Energy. Last night’s outage started at 9:30 and lasted until 5 this morning. The origin for the outage was a tree on a line on Hazlewood Way near Earlestead Drive.

Motorcyle mishap at Keowee Key

Wet roads in Keowee Key this morning apparently contributed to a motorcycle accident. On Port Track Drive, a motorcyclist lost control and he and the bike wound up in a ditch. His injuries—cuts and scapes—could have been a lot worse, in the estimation of Chief Richie Caudill of the Keowee Fire Department.
