Midnight fire at The Reserve

Word reaching 101.7/WGOG NEWS of a serious fire that struck the restaurant at The Reserve home development on Lake Keowee.  Apparently it was a midnight hour fire, to which Oconee County’s Keowee fire Department sent resources, including a ladder fire truck.  We are attempting to learn more information from Pickens County’s Keowee Vineyard Fire Department thru its chief, Phil Black.

Walhalla electric power outage

Workers arriving this morning at the Oconee Veterans Affairs Office on Kenneth Street, Walhalla were greeted by no electric power service.  There’s an uncofirmed report that lightning hit the main power.  The V-A office’s neighbor, the DSS, may also be without power service.

Georgia man arrested after reckless driving incident

The Oconee Sheriff’s Office has identified a Toccoa, Georgia man as the driver of a car that allegedly failed to yield the right of way late last week at a highway 183 intersection between Walhalla and Westminster.  Besides reckless driving, 31-year old James Buice Phillips was also charged with driving under suspension, giving false information, and receiving stolen goods.  According […]
