CATBus cameras are proof in the pudding

A CATBus official says video cameras are now part of every bus in the system and they serve to deter crime and to help law enforcement solve crime.  CATBus’s Holly Brown says the police frequently contact the bus operations to look at video that helps them solve crime and investigate traffic accidents that occur within the vicinity of bus routes.  Speaking yesterday to the Seneca Rotary Club, Brown  said video captured the image of a  a gas can held by a suspect in an arson case.  Brown also said that since mounting the cameras, the effect has been to stop frivolous claims of riders getting on or off buses.  As she put it to the Rotarians, they no longer claim to get their heads stuck in closing doors and requesting payment to supposed medical injuries.
