Charlotte native and a Carolina Panthers quarterback announced his retirement on Wednesday at the age of 31, according to the team.  On Wednesday, July 15, Carolina Panthers quarterback Will Grier announced his retirement from football. Grier resigned with his hometown team in April ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.  Grier was drafted by his hometown Panthers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He made his only two NFL starts during his rookie season in 2019.  The Panthers now have three quarterbacks on the roster as training camp is set to begin next week.  Behind starter Bryce Young is veteran quarterback Kenny Pickett and undrafted rookie Haynes King from Georgia Tech.  The Panthers open the start of preseason against the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 6.
