Burglary, vandalism at church near Westminster

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help today regarding a report of a burglary and vandalism yesterday at an Oconee County church.  The vandalism was reported to the complainant by a parishioner of the church around 8:30am yesterday.

 

A deputy responded to St. John’s Anglican Church on River Road near Westminster yesterday morning and began an investigation.  The Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and began to gather evidence.  The Criminal Investigations Division was also notified and the case has been turned over to an investigator.

 

Investigators have learned doors to the church have been damaged due to forced entry while items were scattered throughout the church which caused damage inside the church.  Some items were also stolen from inside the church as well.
