B’s Cafe to shutter

A difficult week for Walhalla’s Robert Kelley.  He reached the decision to close his two-year old Main Street, Walhalla restaurant – B’s Café.  Besides having to disappoint his customers, the decision to close B’s impacts a number of Kelley family members as a number of them worked there – making and serving sandwiches, soups, and blue-plate specials.  At least one of them has, so far, found new employment.  B’s will operate today and close after servings tomorrow.  Kelley’s “hard decision” is motivated by the rising costs of food and restaurant supplies which Kelley fears appears to be no end in sight.  The problems in the supply chain, combined with the difficulty in securing adequate numbers of people to work, are taking a toll on the local business community.  On a visit yesterday to 101.7/WGOG, Main Street Director Libby Imbody looked visibly shaken by the fact that, in just a few days, a number of Walhalla downtown business are closing – creating empty storefronts, unless and until, those empty buildings are re-filled.
