Betty Knapp
Mooresville, NC — Betty Chapman Knapp, 88, wife of the late Lester Leroy Knapp, formerly of Walhalla, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at TerraBella Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Knapp was born to Elisha and Mae Chapman on July 15, 1937. She lived a rich life filled with purpose, faith, adventure, and a family she loved.
After retiring from Schlumberger, she was able to complete her quest to visit the fifty states. From whale watching in Alaska to hang-gliding in Australia, she was always up for trying something new.
As a member of North Walhalla Church of God, she taught Sunday School and joyfully ministered to the “Seniors.”
Mrs. Knapp is survived by her daughters: Tereca Moore (George) and Tammy Overman (Thomas); grandchildren: Rebecca Kehe (Jeff), and David Moore (Jenny); her great grandkids: Nathan Moore, Charles Kehe, Katherine Kehe, and Charlotte Moore; brother: Charles Chapman (Essie); and sisters: Shirley Long, Linda Chapman, Irene Green, Linda Vaughn (J.E.), and Irene Chapman.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Knapp was preceded in death by her first husband: Buddy Land; son: Tracy Land; brothers: Milton Chapman, Arthur Chapman, and Henry Chapman; and sisters: Clara Bell Powell and Gladys Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Davenport Funeral Home, prior to the service.

The family is at their respective homes.
