Emergency food and shelter money

Funds through “FEMA”—the Federal Emergency Management Agency—will help Oconeeans who qualify pay for emergency food and shelter.  Oconee County’s share in the amount of $35,485 is to be distributed by the United Way.  The United Way invites interested social service agencies to apply for funds by contacting Kimberly Ellis at 882-9743 ext. 106 no later than noon Friday, June 24.

Oconee County plans public hearings tonight on three budget ordinances, covering county spending, education spending, and the Keowee Fire special tax districts.  The hearings start at 6 o’clock tonight and take place at an alternate meeting location:  the conference room at the school district administrative offices across Pine Street from the county administrative complex.
