Seneca High sends 20 students to All-State Chorus

Twenty members of the Seneca High School chorus have been named to the South Carolina All-State Chorus.  Of 80 schools across the state, Seneca’s All-State members are the fourth highest.  Eleven Seneca students performed with perfection on the sight singing portion of their audition. The All-State Chorus will sing in March at Winthrop University with world-renowned conductors.

Burning bans in place

Because of the extreme dry conditions, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources has issued a burning ban on the 33,000-acre Jocassee Gorges area in northern Oconee and Pickens counties.  Firefighters from the S.C. Verbal dispute escalates to altercation

  A verbal disagreement escalated into a stabbing this week near Seneca, and the Oconee Sheriff’s Office is still investigating what happened Monday afternoon on Humbert Street in Utica.  Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said, “The victim was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
