Approaching full bus driver force

For a change, Oconee School District is about to enjoy a full complement of school bus drivers. The county trustees last night received that news with pleasure from Ozzie Wright, their third-year transportation director. Wright says if all qualified drivers report for work this week, the district will have drivers to cover all routes. All eight members of a training class completed their passed their course three weeks ago. In recent years, the district has focused on the need to find drivers by raising pay. Steve Hanvey, associate superintendent, says another incentive is a $50 dollar bonus for every driver who attains a perfect work attendance record over nine weeks’ time.
