Alvin Allen Barnes

 

 

Westminster – Alvin Allen Barnes, 75, of 110 Bruce Road, husband of Margaret Honea Barnes, passed away Thursday, June 18th, 2020 at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Ruby Barnes Orr and Olige Orr and was reared and raised by his grandparents the late B.Q. and Eloise Nichols Barnes. Alvin retired from Greenfield Industries after 42 years and was a retired volunteered fireman with the Oakway Fire Department having served over 10 years of service. Alvin was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, was a mechanic, a lay evangelist and was a member of Restoration Church of God Townville.

 

In addition to his wife Margaret Honea Barnes of 57 years, Alvin is survived by his sons, Alvin Ray Barnes (Lynn) of Oakway, David Barnes (Lisa) of Seneca; daughters, Tracy Carter (Joseph) of Westminster, Kelly Waldrop (Blade) of Easley; brother, Melvin Orr of West Union; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Ivy Rose Vicki Souza.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 pm, Monday, June 22nd, 2020 at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Monday, June 22nd, 2020 prior to the service.
