A red, white and blue 3rd in Walhalla

DHEC urges South Carolinians to make safe, responsible plans to celebrate the 4th of July weekend–precautions to protect against the spread of the virus.  Health authorities are confident that the lack of social distancing and mask wearing contributes to the escalating numbers.  They recommend families celebrate with home-based festivities and watch fireworks shows while remaining in their vehicles or tuning to virtual celebrations.  Watching fireworks from vehicles parked in Walhalla Friday night is a suggestion by Sean Brinson, the city police chief.  Walhalla’s annual Independence Eve celebration Friday will finish with a professionally-produced fireworks show starting around 9:15 that night.  Those fireworks are to be set off from a field adjacent to the First Baptist Church.  Brinson, however, recommends watching those fireworks from spots along Main Street, including the Green at Main and N. Katherine.
