A plea to limit water use
A new page has been written on a season of water problems for Oconee’s second largest municipality. Yesterday a water main break occurred and Walhalla crews are said to have worked diligently to repair. But the repair work, combined with high water use, generated low area tank levels – leading to reduced water pressures. The hope last night was that those pressure levels would be restored overnight. Some Walhalla customers may experience varying degrees of loss in pressure, up to a temporary loss of water altogether. If you have running water, you are urged to conserve as the system recovers. Last night’s city announcement reads: “We are asking the community to limit their water usage and only as much water as they need – we’re all in this together, and our team is vigorously working to restore water pressures.” Messages have been sent to customers throughout the Walhalla City Code Red Alert system.
