A 101.7/WGOG NEWS clarification

In our story on the internal review that Seneca is conducting to assess how well its police department measures up to diversity and inclusion, 101.7/WGOG NEWS said the city’s actions were prompted by the local protests over George Floyd’s death.  City officials say that is incorrect.  Floyd died May 25 and the protests in Seneca started about one week later.  It’s during that interval,  according to City Administrator Scott Moulder, that his city started the process to form a task force to address issues involving the city and members of its minority community.  Moulder says, in that, Seneca was being pro-active and not re-active.  As an outgrowth of the new task force, Seneca has also hired Loretta Smith of Spartanburg, a professional in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  And she has started to assist the city.
