DEAN MARCENGILL

Westminster – Arthur Dean Marcengill, 81, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Hospice House of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.

 

Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, on August 30, 1942, Dean was the youngest child of Lester and Effie Williams Marcengill.  As a young teenager, Dean found his love for music and playing the guitar which he later passed on to his eldest son, Russ.

 

Dean Started working at a very young age shining shoes up-town and car hopping at a local drive-in.  After high school, Dean married and went to work at JP Stevens as a forklift driver.  After working hard and going to school to become an engineer, he soon moved up in the company. In later years, he traveled to different plants to evaluate each plant’s production so he could determine the best way to increase their output. In the late 80’s,

 Dean left the textile industry to be the founder of Reflection’s Glass & Mirror where for 25 plus years he met a lot of people and made a lot of friends through the years of providing glass work to the upstate.  Dean was a Christian of the Baptist Faith.

 

Dean is survived by his sons, Russell D. Marcengill (Diane) of Westminster, L. Duane Marcengill (Letitia) of Westminster; grandchildren, Brandon Dean Marcengill of Westminster, Michelle Lavere (Kyle) of West Union, Andrew D. Marcengill (Kaleigh) of Mountain Rest, Ryan A. Marcengill of Clemson, Isaac R. Marcengill of West Union, W. Cade Marcengill of Westminster; three great-grandchildren, Briar and Knox Lavere of West Union and Millie V. Marcengill of Mountain NC, Rest; and siblings, John S. Marcengill (Shirley) of Westminster, Cathrine Burns of Hendersonville, and Lessie Cox (Marshall) of Taylors, SC.

 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents.

 

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
