2% pay hikes recommended for county workers

The workforce of Oconee government is in line for two percent cost of living increases, if the recommendation from the county administrator is approved by the county fathers.  It’s new budget time at the county government offices, and last evening Administrator Brock presented an 87-page draft of what the administration recommends for expenses and projected revenues.  Admitting that she wishes the pay raise were higher, Brock said all county workers are eligible to receive an extra two percent to help them keep up with life’s increasing costs of living.  In-eligible for the raise are the county’s two contract employees:  Brock and the attorney David Root, along with the five councilmen who are forbidden from raising their part-time salaries during their terms of office.  In answer to a question by John Elliott, the council chairman, Brock said the raises are to be awarded based on a performance review.
