13-year drug sentence

A trial by jury failed to materialize today in the Oconee General Sessions Court when the defendant entered a guilty plea and submitted to the sentence of the court.  Prosecutor Chris Beeco said defendant Lee Roy Whitt pleaded guilty to trafficking in methamphetamine and was ordered by Judge Sprouse to serve 13 years in prison.  According to Beeco, Whitt was arrested near Westminster in November 2023 when a Pickens sheriff’s deputy to help Oconee County conducted a saturation operation near Westminster on the Cobb Bridge Road.
