Walhalla will apply for up to one million dollars to help launch the streetscape project, for which it intends to transform a four-block area of the downtown business district. Nancy Goehle, city administrator, says the course of action was taken during a meeting last night of the city committees. The city leaders have agreed to apply to the Appalachian Regional Commission for up to $500 thousand, to be matched by an identical amount. According to Goehle, the idea is to ask Oconee’s “C” Funds Committee for the matching amount.
