Walhalla’s leaders are one step away from appointing a new police chief. During a meeting last night of the police committee, a vote of 3-0 recommended Ronald Wilbanks, the interim chief, to succeed Tim Chastain, who stepped down. The vote by committee chairman James Powell and committee members Tjay Bagwell and Jennifer Woodward Crawford will be referred to full council for approval at next week’s regular meeting.
