Traffic signals are in the works for a highway 11 intersection north of West Union. It’s the four-way intersection of 11, Fowler Road, and Scenic Heights Road. 96.3/WGOG NEWS has learned it’s to be a cost-sharing project of the South Carolina DOT and the Oconee County “C” Fund Committee. Because of a number of accidents over the years and its proximity to the Walhalla Elementary School, the intersection has generated a number of petitions requesting traffic lights. One nearby resident said some of those petitions originated as far back as the period when Judge Alex Macaulay served as a state senator.
