Pickens grad makes a rescue

The military has announced that an Air Force officer, graduate of Pickens High School, rescued a drowning girl from the ocean after a riptide pulled her out too far. The praise goes to Staff Sgt. Robert Profitt Jr., a C17 crew chief instructor assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base. Profitt has served in the military for 10 years. He’s the son of Robert and Juanita Profit of Pickens. His wife, Nikki, is the daughter of Scott and Angie Durham of Jocassee Lake Road, Salem. Profitt garduated in 2001 from Pickens High School and received a bachelor of science in 2012 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
