The U-S Justice Department has announced the award of $3,339.00 to Pickens County to reimburse some of the costs of jailing undocumented criminal aliens who have committed serious crimes. According to announcement from Pickens Sheriff David Stone, an aggressive program of researching and applying for little known federal programs to supplement the local tax burden was implemented ny engaging Justice Benefits, Inc (JBI) for assistance. The Texas consulting firm specializes in locating and accessing hard-to-find federal reimbursements for local and state entities. Pickens County was able to maximize its dollar amount on the application and was one of only 890 (out of 3,140) eligible local entities across the country that successfully applied.
