The police say a Walhalla man was the victim of a pedestrian accident Saturday afternoon on Main Street. Chief Ronald Wilbanks says William Gary Nichols was crossing Main Street when struck by a car driven by Clayton, Georgia resident Steven Harper Edwards. At the time, Edwards’s 2003 Honda had left the parking lot of Bountyland Quik Stop. According to Wilbanks, the right front fender of the car struck Nichols and the pedestrian was sent by ambulance to the hospital. Wilbanks described Nichols’ injuries as minor. Edwards was not hurt. The police issued no citation, as Wilbanks said the accident occurred outside of a crosswalk.
