New oversight committee meets

A new committee to oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of state government holds its first meeting this afternoon in Columbia for the purpose of organization and a decision on which agencies and programs are to be reviewed first. State Senator Larry Martin of Pickens County, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has appointed three Senators as subcommittee members: Shane Massey of Edgefield, Vincent Sheheen of Kershaw, and Chauncey Gregory of Lancaster.
