Taxpayers affected by the recent data breach at the SC Department of Revenue now have an extended deadline to sign up for free credit monitoring.  The new deadline is March 31, 2013.  South Carolinians have until then to sign up for a year of free credit monitoring through Experian.  The state will foot the bill for the first year of coverage, which includes  $1 million identity theft insurance to cover lost wages, private investigator fees, and other costs connected with identity theft.  So far, nearly 1 million people have signed up for the coverage.
