A man and his truck took an unexpected turn into Lake Hartwell late yesterday afternoon. Robert Robbs of Seneca managed to free himself and get out of the water, but his pick-up remained in water for about three hours before a heavy duty wrecker was able to remove it. Yesterday afternoon’s accident  occurred on Martin Creek Road near the Cartee Road. Robbs, whose body shook as he was being loaded into a hospital ambulance, was quoted at the scene as saying he was headed south on Martin Creek Road when a vehicle approaching from the opposite crossed the center line and forced him to strike the front edge of guardrail before plunging off the two-lane road into the lake. Lance Corporal Bill Ryne of the highway patrol said last night both the other vehicle and its driver were unknown.
