Two Oconee County school trustees are recognized by the S.C. School Boards Association for achievement during the association’s boardmanship institute. Jerry Lee of District One and Buddy Herring of District Five took advantage of a year-round training curriculum that helps board members develop skills and stay abreast of state and national educational issues. Lee is a Level Four achiever by earning enough points to be awarded a pin with a blue stone. Herring reached Level Three, enough points for certificate and a gold pin. Trustees can achieve up to six levels of recognition by earning points that are accrued annually for taking part in statewide conference and training provided onsite in their district.
