Before they even walked into the Tamassee-Salem High auditorium, several Lake Keowee residents signed a petition directed at Duke Energy. The signers are asking the electric utility company to delete language in an agreement that would allow Lake Keowee to be lowered an extra 5 feet to a level of 790 feet in a stage four drought. Keowee’s current drought stage is two, according to Jen Huff, project manager for the Keowee-Toxaway re-licensing effort.
