A centennial cake is to be served at lunch today to the students at Keowee Elementary School. Weather forced the pilot to cancel a flyover and an old time capsule could not be located. Other than that, today’s official centennial celebration went well, according to Libby Imbody, chairperson of the centennial committee. A real sense of excitement could be felt among the students, from the four-year old kindergarten class through the fifth grade, that the 2013 students are the ones to be enrolled during their school’s 100th year. Many of the students wore centennial T-shirts. On stage, there were presentations about what life was like in 1913. An elementary today, the school once was a high school.
