West Union School preservationists fell short of their goal of saving the town’s former school building from a wrecking ball. But they succeeded in acquiring an official state historic marker depicting that on the grounds opposite the town’s fire department, a building of education once stood. The unveiling of the marker was conducted yesterday afternoon by members of the School Preservation Association. The ceremony attracted a handful of West Union supporters, including Circuit Court Judge Alex Macaulay, a town resident.
