Governor Nikki Haley said South Carolina now knows the identities of its taxpayers whose private information was breached in the cyber attack and those breached will be notified by mail. In other highlights from the governor’s news conference this afternoon, she announced the resignation of James Etter, the Department of Revenue executive director, effective December 31, explaining that it has been decided a new set of eyes now needs to be focused on the Department of Revenue, whose records were exposed in the attack. She and Mark Keel, the SLED director, said the investigation continues as to the identity of the cyber attacker, but Keel would give little information about this, saying he doesn’t want to harm the investigation.
