Pickens County Sheriff’s Department reports a 61-year old man is its suspect in a double homicide late last night at an address on the Saluda Dam Road. The victims in the shootings were Sandy Lee Smith, 42 years old, and Daniel Gabriel Smith, 15. According to the sheriff’s department, suspect William D. Thomas is the stepfather of Daniel. While locating the bodies at the home, officers say they heard a gunshot from outside. About 75 yards from, the home they found Thomas with a gunshot to the head. Autopsies are underway and the investigation continues.
