State troopers report three people hurt in yesterday afternoon’s accident on S.C. 59 in the Earles Grove Community. Trooper Billy Elder said the accident occurred when a mail carrier’s truck slowed down and was struck from the rear by a Volkswagen Jetta. Elder said the mail carrier, Tiffany L. King of Westminster, was sent to a trauma center at Greenville. Volkswagen driver Kaithlin Oberholt of Fair Play, along with an unidentified passenger, went to the Oconee Medical Center. The accident was reported shortly before 1:30 and a stretch of 59 remained closed temporarily. Mail carrier King was ejected from her vehicle, and the impact spread mail along the roadside, according to Grahl Haney, Oconee Deputy Fire Chief. By mid-afternoon yesterday, troopers considered the accident still under investigation.
