On this anniversary of a series of tragic events in American history, Congressman Jeff Duncan said, “As we pause to remember the 11th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we are reminded of those who perished on that day, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while defending our freedoms during the War on Terror.” The Republican from Laurens said, “We will never forget the horrific assault on our brothers and sisters that September morning, nor will be allow their deaths to be in vain.” 96.3/WGOG NEWS interviewed Oconee resident Rich Simington. When he was a boy shortly after Pear Harbor, Simington had thought nothing would every surpass the attack on the U-S Navy in terms of the numbers of lives lost, but 9-11 did, he said.
